My ultimate goal is to inspire as many people as I can to help them live a life where they are healthier and happier, due to being more active. Helping people is what means the most to me; it is the emotions of joy that I receive from people that bring me so much happiness and fulfilment.
I will be ‘Jogging for Joe’ and Running Around Australia in 2021, in honour of my football teammate Joseph Moschetti who unexpectedly passed away in his sleep in 2016. I will be raising money for ‘The Compassionate Friends’, a support service for parents, siblings and grandparents who have lost a child. The charity also educates the general public on how to communicate with and support parents, siblings and grandparents after they have lost a child. This is so important to me, as after death occurs so many people don’t know what to say or do so they commonly say and do nothing at all. It crushed me when I found out that some of Joe’s parent’s best friends have barely spoken to them since he passed away, a time where they naturally need more support and love than ever. I want to share the message that saying and doing something is always better than saying and doing nothing at all. Bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents love to talk about their lost loved one and a lot of people don’t realise that time will never heal them. We hope that this run will raise enough awareness and money so that The Compassionate Friends can have a bigger voice to make a significant difference in helping share the message of how parents, siblings and grandparents need to be supported after the death of a child.
I have taken substantial inspiration from my friend Joey and other athletes such as Rich Roll, Samantha Gash and Turia Pitt. They have helped me truly believe that anything is possible and for them I am so grateful. (read more in the about me section).
My plan is from January 1st, 2019 to Febuary 19th, 2019 (50 days) to run 50 marathons in 50 days. These will be a jog; they may take anywhere from 4-7 hours to complete them depending on how I’m feeling each day, but I will do this to condition myself for what it will be like when I jog for Joe, backing up runs everyday when I run around Australia in 2021. The 50 marathons in 50 days are also to show my dedication and commitment to this Jog for Joey as well as in the hope of developing sponsorships.
Between now and 2021, alongside my preparation for the Jog for Joe, I will be working as a personal trainer. I will run a variety of sessions including one on one and group training. Sessions will be both indoor and outdoor and will include weights, boxing, circuit training etc. for people of all ages, abilities and experience. My long term career goal is to become a motivational speaker/mindset coach all over the world, to inspire people to become more active and to help people to achieve what they really want. I want to empower others to believe that they are capable of achieving so much more than they truly thought was possible.
